Abstract: The high prevalence of obesity and related pathologies in current society has focused a point over researches about the adipose tissue. This interest has been increased due to the recent discoveries of environmental factors which can influence on adipose tissue dynamics, and may even result in pathological phenotypes. Therefore, the target spotlight the cells that form the implicated tissue: the adipocytes. These cells get their phenotype through several morphological and epigenetic changes which constitute the adipogenic differentiation process. Due to the implication in the cell differentiation process of the oxidative phosphorylation system (OXPHOS), an energetic metabolic mitochondria pathway, it has been chosen to study its role in this molecular mechanism.

So that, hASC cells were exposed to differentiation conditions in absence and presence of a specific environmental factor: different OXPHOS system xenobiotics inhibitors. The chosen compounds were rotenone (10 nM), antimycin A (10 nM) and oligomycin (16 nM), each one of them separately assayed. The obtained results show that disrupting OXPHOS well-made function, during the adipogenic differentiation process, has an effect on it, modifying natural process relation.
