Fluorometry versus fluorimetry
Respirometry and fluorometry
Although it appears to be equally valid to use fluorometry or fluorimetry in any arbitrary context, perhaps there is a specific reason to favour fluorometry in the context of respirometry.
Statistics
- In Pubmed (2011-11-19), there is a clear dominance of the term Spectrofluorometry:
- 164084 and 164775 hits for Fluorometry versus Fluorimetry;
- 774 and 249 for Fluorometer versus Fluorimeter;
- 61583 and 588 for Spectrofluorometry and Spectrofluorimetry;
- 367 and 167 for Spectrofluorometer and Spectrofluorimeter.
- In Google (2011-11-19), there is a clear dominance of the term Fluorimetry:
- 246,000 and 375,000 hits for Fluorometry versus Fluorimetry;
- 462,000 and 510,000 for Fluorometer versus Fluorimeter;
- 46,600 and 148,000 for Spectrofluorometry and Spectrofluorimetry;
- 166,000 and 163,000 for Spectrofluorometer and Spectrofluorimeter.
- In Wikipedia (2011-11-19), there is a redirect from fluorimeter to fluorometer.
