Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase

Description

Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) catalyzes the anabolic reaction of oxaloacetate (Oxa) to phosphoenolpyruvate at the expense of GTP. PEPCK is a cytoplasmatic enzyme involved in gluconeogenesis in mouse and rat liver, but 'is found in the mitochondria in the rabbit and chicken, and in both cytoplasm and mitochondria in the guinea pig' (Lehninger 1970).

Abbreviation: PEPCK
