Excess energy stored as fat deprives us of life energy. From the muscle to the brain, metabolic energy comes from cellular respiration, fired by the power plants of the cells: the mitochondria. Their respiratory capacity decreases with obesity. Obesity is the leading cause of death and premature aging. An active lifestyle with exercise and balanced diet prevents this. Obesity has reached the news, but the connection to the mitochondria needs a pint of science.
