The contributions by Nick Lane and Odra Noel in the final session of MiP2010 were the highlights of a most enjoyable and inspiring MiP''conference''. We received an overwhelmingly positive feedback on MiP2010 in general and on the last evening of the meeting in particular.

Nick's broad perspective ([http://www.mitophysiology.org/index.php?mip2010-session7 see abstract]) encouraged us all to think beyond the narrow confinements of our specialized fields, and consider science as it should be practiced and communicated at ''universities''. His energetic and compact presentation was just ''excellent'', providing further confirmation that such meetings can be run on a 10+5 min basis - avoiding  parallel sessions -, even for special evening lectures.

Odra Noel's MiPArt exhibition and presentation ([http://www.mitophysiology.org/index.php?mip2010-session7 Life Immitates Art Immitates Life]) opened up our minds for an appreciation that we do study ''life'', and that the study of life transcends the limitations of science, whereas science transcends the limitations of art. Thus Odra Noel not only summarized a view on Mitochondrial Science and Art as a driving force for MiP2010, but provided a vision for future perspectives, enriching MiP''meetings'' with a new dimension of communication, a communication that joins young and established scientists.

MiP2010 - Science and Art - The Beauty of Mitochondria

The contributions by Nick Lane and Odra Noel in the final session of MiP2010 were the highlights of a most enjoyable and inspiring MiPconference. We received an overwhelmingly positive feedback on MiP2010 in general and on the last evening of the meeting in particular.

Nick's broad perspective (see abstract) encouraged us all to think beyond the narrow confinements of our specialized fields, and consider science as it should be practiced and communicated at universities. His energetic and compact presentation was just excellent, providing further confirmation that such meetings can be run on a 10+5 min basis - avoiding parallel sessions -, even for special evening lectures.

Odra Noel's MiPArt exhibition and presentation (Life Immitates Art Immitates Life) opened up our minds for an appreciation that we do study life, and that the study of life transcends the limitations of science, whereas science transcends the limitations of art. Thus Odra Noel not only summarized a view on Mitochondrial Science and Art as a driving force for MiP2010, but provided a vision for future perspectives, enriching MiPmeetings with a new dimension of communication, a communication that joins young and established scientists.
