Dataset

Description

A dataset is a collection of data. In the context of databases a dataset represents the collection of entries in a database-table. In this table columns represent attributes and rows display the according values of the entries.

Example

A car dataset consists of 3 entries:

Car A
Car B
Car C

For each of those cars the dataset includes information about the attributes:

length
weight
color

The car names together with the attributes represent one dataset. A database can consist of several datasets. The car dataset could look like this:

name	length[m]	weight[kg]	color
Car A	4.5	1234	blue
Car B	3.2	879	red
Car C	5.0	1000	blue

Terminology questions

What is an experiment? Do we have to re-define the term 'experiment', or distinguish various modalities in using the term?
