Abstract: Overweight and obesity are major problems of public health in many countries worldwide. Overweight can cause severe diseases such as type II diabetes mellitus, hypertension, stroke, heart failure and several types of cancer. In addition, inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress are increased in overweight people. Reactive oxygen species have been shown to cause insulin resistance (IRe) in vitro and IRe has been reported to correlate with a decrease in antioxidative capacity. ...
